Review raises questions about routine breast palpation

CLINICAL breast examination (CBE) doesn’t add much benefit to cancer screening for women at average risk if they’re receiving regular mammograms, an Australian specialist says.

Breast physician Associate Professor Meagan Brennan, from the University of Sydney, says that current clinical guidelines are inconsistent in their recommendations but there’s no definitive evidence that breast exams reduce cancer mortality.
