Robust link between psoriasis and diabetes

The review of 27 observational studies found the prevalence of diabetes was even higher – about twice the rate – among patients with severe psoriasis.

Five studies involving more than 90,000 patients with psoriasis and 900,000 controls assessed incidence over time, revealing that people with psoriasis had a 27% increased risk of developing diabetes.

The most comprehensive study showed the increased risk was significant among patients with psoriasis who were younger than 60 years but not among older patients.
