Salt key to albuminuria

A study of more than 2500 participants, presented at the recent US Kidney Week conference, is the largest and longest study showing that albuminuria can be reduced by limiting dietary sodium intake. 

Higher amounts of albumin in urine can predict kidney and cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes, so it’s an important marker of risk for a range of conditions, said study leader Dr Meg Jardine, from the George Institute for Global Health, Sydney.
