Saturated fat findings not a license to swill

Recent research claiming that saturated fats may not be as bad as we thought have been slammed by the Heart Foundation.

The systematic review and meta-analysis published in this week’s Annals of Internal Medicine concluded that evidence “did not clearly support” cardiovascular guidelines that encourage high consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids and low consumption of total saturated fats.

“It’s not saturated fat that we should worry about," said lead author Dr. Rajiv Chowdhury, a cardiovascular epidemiologist at Cambridge University in the UK.
