Save a minute, save a day in stroke thrombolysis

Each minute saved in accessing stroke thrombolysis can translate to days, weeks and months of disability-free life for patients, an Australian study demonstrates.

Every 15 minutes gained delivering tPA provided on average an equivalent of one month of healthy life for each treated patient, found the study led by Atte Meretoja, an associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Melbourne.

While all patients benefited from faster treatment, it was younger patients and women who reaped the most from faster
