Screen for hypothyroidism in prediabetes: study

Risk of type 2 diabetes may be raised in people with low thyroid function, say Dutch researchers.

Their longitudinal study involving a population sample of over 8,000 people without diabetes looked at TSH levels as well as incident prediabetes and type 2 disease over eight years.

People with low TSH levels had a 13% higher risk of developing diabetes over the period.
