Senate backs MBS item for dementia

A new Medicare item should be created for GPs to conduct longer consultations with patients with suspected dementia and their families, a Federal Senate committee concluded.

The call topped a list of 18 recommendations released last week by the Senate’s Community Affairs References Committee, which was charged with investigating the state of dementia care in Australia.
