Simple self-report tool measures IBD disability

Validated in Australian patients

A new short and simple questionnaire will enable patients to self-report the level of their disability from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with similar accuracy to a current gold standard method, researchers say.

At present, assessment of disability from IBD is made using the 28-question Inflammatory Bowel Disease Disability Index, which is administered in a clinical interview, the Australian and New Zealand study authors say.

They wanted to produce a validated tool which patients could use quickly and easily to self-report the level of their disability.
