Sitting, but not TV, linked to anxiety

SITTING time is linked to an increased risk of anxiety, a systematic review shows.

Five out of the nine included studies revealed a positive association between sedentary behaviour and developing or experiencing anxiety disorder or symptoms, the authors said.

However, some studies suggested the reasons for sitting may be important. One study indicated that transport-related sitting time was associated with a higher risk of anxiety but sitting for work purposes or during leisure time was not.

Overall, the authors found insufficient evidence for a relationship between screen time,
