Diabetes Educators (DEs) are in a privileged position. We gather a great deal of personal information about an individual, their diabetes, general health and personal capacity to manage their diabetes. There is an expectation we will honour the trust people put in us with the sharing of their information to use it to create an individualised plan that addresses the unique needs, capacities, situations, motivations and desires of each individual.
