Sleep deprivation a ‘hidden epidemic’ in MS
A high percentage of people with MS have sleep disorders that remain undiagnosed, according to a large US study.
Results from a 10-page questionnaire survey of 2,800 Californians with MS show over a third screened positive for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) but only 4% reported being diagnosed by a doctor with the condition.
Thirty-one percent reported insomnia but only 10% had been diagnosed with it, while 37% had restless leg syndrome with only 12% diagnosed.
