Smart devices in the pipeline for diabetes
Mobile technology giants are locked in a race to come up with new ways to check blood sugar without a finger-prick test.
Apple, Google and Samsung are all developing wearable technology such as smartwatches and bracelets which could monitor blood sugar levels through the skin, according to a Reuters report published this week.
The tech firms have been hiring medical scientists and engineers as well as engaging with US regulatory bodies about the potential of glucose measuring via wearable devices, the report said.
The main prize would be to get glucose measuring capability on a mobile phone
