Statins lower death risk in AS and PsA

Statins may reduce the mortality risk by as much as one third in patients with ankylosing spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis, according to new findings.

Recent studies have confirmed an increase in cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in people with these types of arthritis.

Statin use may have the dual effect of both lowering lipids and reducing inflammation in such patients, the researchers say.
