Step inside the Sydney Brain Bank ...
Standing in the freezer room at the Sydney Brain Bank is surreal.
The small room with no windows contains six large, metal freezers. Inside them lie the frozen left or right hemispheres of the brains of 550 donors. Their matching hemispheres are in another room, fixed in formalin and stored in plastic buckets.
One can’t help thinking about the people: their lives, personalities, memories and experiences that were encoded in those brains. There’s a sense of wonder that so much can fit in such a small space.
