Steroid use may double risk of VTE

The population-based case control study of nearly 40,000 cases of VTE found that systemic glucocorticoids doubled the risk of VTE in present users, and tripled the risk in new users.

New use of inhaled corticosteroids doubled the risk of VTE but present and continuing use did not increase the risk of VTE.
