Stop! Don’t flush your ‘money’

A little more than one-third of Australians invited to participate in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program actually post their poo to the laboratory.

But researchers in the US believe they have hit on a way to boost participation in faecal occult blood test (FOBT) screening: offer the opportunity of winning a prize.

Recruiting 1500 patients attending a war veterans’ medical clinic in Philadelphia, they divided them into groups and offered them different incentives.
