Study flags bone issues after breast cancer

A South Australian study has found poor bone health management of breast cancer survivors on long-term hormone therapy.

The research looked at 42 women receiving either aromatase inhibitors (AIs) or tamoxifen after chemotherapy with curative intent. Only a third of those on tamoxifen had an initial bone scan, despite the known risks for bone health with this treatment particularly in premenopausal women.
