Study highlights gaps in research reports
An Australian-led study has highlighted gaps in the way review articles report harm of common therapies used in gastroenterology.
The study, led by Dr Suzanne Mahady of the University of Sydney, assessed how side effects were covered in 78 recently published systematic reviews and meta-analyses of common treatments.
The study found one in three reviews contained no information on side effects. Only a quarter of studies provided numerical data on frequency of common side effects.
