Study looks at gender and sudden cardiac arrest

Women are more likely to survive sudden cardiac arrest than men, according to the first systematic review and meta-analysis of the subject.

But the issue is not clear-cut. Women are more likely than men to have a cardiac arrest at home, and less likely to be with another person when the arrest strikes, a key factor for survival in the overwhelmingly fatal condition, the authors of the meta-analysis say.
