Study reveals scale of sex worker HIV burden

This is according to a meta-analysis that took in all HIV surveillance reports and studies published in 2007–11for low and middle-income countries.

Data was “scarce” despite the scale of the problem, the researchers said, as figures for 50 of a possible 145 countries were available.

“In other words, about two-thirds of low-income and middle-income countries do not have a current estimate of the burden of HIV in this population,” the authors said.
