Study shows deadly toll of osteoporosis

A new report has highlighted the deadly contribution musculoskeletal conditions have on Australia's ageing population.

One in 20 deaths in 2013 were directly caused by, or contributed to, by musculoskeletal conditions, according to the report released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) this week.

Osteoporosis made the greatest contribution to mortality, causing more than 1600 deaths.
