Study shows gaps in FH knowledge

GPs are unaware of important aspects of familial hypercholesterolaemia, while cardiologists are reluctant to direct patients to internet resources, a study shows.

The Medibus survey of 200 GPs and 50 cardiologists showed that cardiologists were far more likely than GPs to use the Dutch Lipid Clinic Score or MEDPED score to diagnose FH (72% vs 33%). In comparison, GPs were most likely to use genetic testing.
