Study shows good results for renal denervation

Among 88 patients with treatment-resistant hypertension, RDN led to reductions of systolic BP of 32.0mmHg and diastolic BP of 14.4 mmHg with improvement increasing among 93% at three years.

However patients were still each taking 5.2 anti-hypertensives by the end of the Medtronic-funded study compared to 5.1 at baseline.

The researchers cautioned the patients had been carefully selected and the results may not be applicable in the ‘real world’.
