Study tackles challenge of placebo effect

A study  that shows Parkinson’s patients improved after undergoing a sham operation and returned to baseline when told about the bluff could help researchers improve the accuracy of clinical trials.

In the study, the researchers found that 17 out of 23 patients benefited from the sham, and hope further studies will help identify which patients are most susceptible.
