Subclinical hyperthyroidism linked to fractures

Subclinical hyperthyroidism is associated with an increased risk of fracture, particularly when  TSH levels are below 0.1mIU/L, finds a meta-analysis.
Data from 70,298 participants were included in the study, 2219 of whom had subclinical hyperthyroidism.
“It’s a very large study combining data from 13 cohorts across the world,” says Clinical Professor John Walsh, endocrinologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the University of Western Australia in Perth, and Lead Investigator of the Busselton Thyroid Study, one of the cohorts whose participants were included in the meta-analysis.
