Synthetic drug use entrenched in Australia: study

Researchers interviewed 654 regular ecstasy users, finding 44% reported using the new compounds in the previous six months.

They found that, compared to other ecstasy users, NPS users were more likely to have used stimulants for 48 hours or more without sleep and to have used more than nine classes of drugs in the past six months.

However, there was no difference in sexual risk taking or self-report of mental health problems between the two groups.
