Systematic review links LVH to cognitive decline
Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is associated with cognitive decline, particularly affecting memory and executive function, the authors of a systematic review say.
All but one of nine included studies showed that people with LVH had poorer cognitive performance than those without the condition.
Results from four of the studies suggested that memory and executive functions appeared to be especially vulnerable, perhaps because they both involved extensive distributed networks in the brain, the authors said.
