Taking the patch test

The commonest allergens we see are to nickel and perfumes. 

This patient reacted to two allergens numbered 3 and 22. These were thiuram, the commonest cause of rubber glove allergy after latex, and sesquiterpene lactone, the allergen in some flowers and weeds. 

She had to leave the florist business due to a severe hand and face dermatitis. 

Despite that absence she remained highly allergic to the sesquiterpene lactone which still gave a blistering
