Targeted thyroid tests elusive

AN AUDIT in England has found wide variation in the ordering of thyroid function tests (TFTs) in general practice, prompting a systematic review of interventions to reduce testing.

The reviewers included 27 studies, including three from Australia, in their analysis. Most of the interventions involved education, guidelines, audit and feedback, and had a median duration of 12 months.
