Taskforce presents proposal to change epilepsy definition

The International League Against Epilepsy taskforce also said the 2005 definition of at least two unprovoked, or reflex, seizures more than 24 hours apart was inadequate.

It now considers epilepsy to be present with one unprovoked seizure plus risk factors associated with a high likelihood of recurrence.

Epilepsy could be considered resolved if a person has been seizure-free for the past 10 years, including five years without medication, or when the person has passed the age of age-dependent
