TB office cluster sparks open plan warning

The case, reported in the MJA, involved a 34-year-old man with no risk factors who presented to his GP with a four week history of flu-like symptoms, including weight loss and a persistent non-productive cough. An initial diagnosis of bronchitis meant he continued to go to work.

The TB diagnosis was finally made by another GP who trained in a country with a high burden of TB infection and sparked a major contact investigation that involved 89 co-workers.
