Teen cannabis use implicated in anxiety

It's the most widely used illicit drug in Australia, often chalked up to youthful experimentation. But the potential mental health risks of regularly using cannabis as a teenager could linger long after the party days have subsided, a longitudinal study by researchers at UNSW’s National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre suggests.

Researchers surveyed almost 2000 secondary students from Victoria nine times over a 13-year period, following them until they were 29 – long after most studies on the subject cease.

Teenagers who used cannabis weekly or
