Test offers new insight into radiographic progression in RA

A biomarker test already used in the US is better at predicting radiographic progression in early RA than DAS28 or CRP, new research shows.
While there were some clinical parameters at diagnosis that had been linked with radiographic progression -- such as inflammatory markers, smoking, and baseline erosions -- they had limited predictive power on an individual basis, the study authors said.

“Identification of new predictors would be beneficial for establishing the prognosis at an early stage and for optimally choosing therapy,” they wrote in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases
