Tomatoes and gout: not just a myth

Gout sufferers who say tomatoes are a dietary trigger for their flares may have a point, according to a New Zealand study.

Researchers from the University of Otago in Dunedin surveyed over 2,000 New Zealanders with clinically diagnosed gout about possible dietary triggers. Tomatoes were the fourth-most cited food or drink (20%), coming in behind seafood (62%), alcohol (47%) and red meat (35%).
