Top nurse boosts education
Many practice nurses underestimate the good they can achieve through screening patients for diabetes and referring those in need to a diabetes educator, says a leading primary care advocate.
“Practice nurses rarely realise their expertise and ability,” says Karen Booth (pictured), President of the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA).
“As most patients know, good quality, cost effective primary health care is not just about seeing a doctor. It is also about the broader support and care provided by the multidisciplinary team.”
