Training GPs to counsel addicts may be a waste

Researchers from Australia, the UK and Switzerland trained GPs to deliver a brief intervention among more than 500 young people, aged 15–24 years, in Lausanne.

After 12 months, bingeing was reduced by 28% but there was no difference in the rate of patient change between the formally trained and untrained groups of doctors.
