Travellers not seeking risk advice from GPs

Two-thirds of patients travelled to a country for which vaccination was recommended but 57% did not seek health advice.

The BEACH (Bettering the Evaluation of Care and Health) survey of 102 GPs and 2995 patients, funded by CSL, was conducted mid-year.

Common reasons for not being vaccinated included patient refusal (32%), not speaking to a GP before the trip (14%) or leaving it too late to be vaccinated (7%).
