Treading and work don’t mix

In a study of 41 overweight or obese office workers using treadmill desks over 12 weeks, researchers found that while participants increased their average number of daily steps by more than 1000, they did not record any significant weight loss or changes in BMI during that time.

This was because in order to do their work, they had to walk pretty slowly, said lead researcher John M. Schuna, Jr, assistant professor of exercise and sports science at the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University.
