Treat osteoarthritis in type 2 diabetes early

DOES diabetes directly lead to osteoarthritis?

A team of European researchers are contending just that, calling long-standing type 2 diabetes “detrimental for knee and hip joints”, and attributing it to “progressive destruction and joint failure.” It is, they say, a significant and independent predictor of arthroplasty.
Their conclusions are drawn from a prospective study of 927 people aged between 40 and 80 years from the Bruneck region of Italy.
