Trial aims at preventing COPD in smokers

Two long-acting bronchodilators will be trialled in young smokers to see if they can help prevent COPD.

The trial led by Professor Christine Jenkins from Sydney’s George Institute for Global Health will recruit 300 smokers aged 25-45 who have smoked for at least 10 years.

Even if successful, it shouldn’t be seen as a “get out of jail free card” for smokers, says Prof Jenkins.
