Trial of testosterone in prediabetes

Researchers from the University of Sydney are looking at the potential benefits of testosterone supplements, combined with a dedicated weight loss program, to treat men who have signs of prediabetes, such as being overweight and having a family history of diabetes.

Men aged 50–74 who are overweight and who have low testosterone will receive an online weight loss program and either testosterone or placebo ?for two years.

Study investigator Professor Bronwyn Stuckey, from the Keogh Institute for Medical Research in WA, said the study will investigate the link between improved muscle mass and glucose metabolism.
