Type 1 kids benefit from home-based education

A home-based education program following a short hospital stay is cost-effective and acceptable to children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, WA endocrinologists have found.  

They randomised 50 patients to either a home-based program or standard care at the Princess Margaret Hospital and found no differences in HbA1c, hypoglycaemia episodes or diabetes-related hospital readmissions.
