UK drinkers turn a blind eye to government advice
Young people were delaying initiation and drinking slightly less, though the UK’s total alcohol consumption was rising, Public Health Minister Anne Milton reported.
“I still think that whereas people accept the harm that smoking causes and accept the harm that being overweight causes, there is still some issue about accepting the harm that alcohol causes,” Ms Milton said.
“That is still a message that we haven’t got through in the guidelines.”
