Ultrasound assessments questioned in early RA

Treat-to-target strategies in newly diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis are not  improved with the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) to assess disease activity, say Scottish researchers.

In their trial of 111 early RA patients, those randomised to ultrasound were treated more intensively than those whose therapy was informed by DAS28 scores only.
