Ultrasound an educational tool for RA patients

RA patients are less concerned about taking their medications if they are shown ‘real time’ ultrasound images of their inflamed joints, Australian research finds.

However this did not translate into an improvement in medication compliance, found the team of rheumatologists from the  Mid-North Coast Arthritis Clinic in Coffs Harbour in NSW.

Writing in the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Dr Hanish Baga and colleagues said studies had shown 30-40% of RA patients were non-adherent with their DMARDs, yet very few interventions had successfully addressed the issue.
