Urologists fail to refer high-risk prostatectomy patients

Some urologists are failing to refer their high-risk patients for adjuvant radiotherapy after prostatectomy, potentially leading to loss of lives, says a radiation oncologist.

“A paltry 9.4%” of 833 high risk men who had undergone radical prostatectomy received adjuvant radiotherapy according to a recent Victorian Cancer registry study, writes Professor Tom Shakespeare in an editorial in the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology.
