Using the pill to prevent injury

Teenage girls who take oral contraceptives may be inadvertently protecting themselves from serious athletic injuries, US researchers say.

Their work suggests that the pill decreases and stabilises oestrogen levels which provides protection for women from ligament injuries, in particular those associated with their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
