Vasectomy does not raise prostate cancer risk

Men who have had a vasectomy can be reassured by a large study which shows no link between the procedure and prostate cancer mortality.

The finding counters earlier findings suggesting an increased risk of prostate cancer in men who had a vasectomy.

In what is believed to be the largest such study to date, US researchers looked at data from almost 364,000 men enrolled in a cancer prevention study from 1982 to 2012, of whom 7,451 died of prostate cancer.
