Victoria registrar deaths spark concern

The suspected suicides of three psychiatry registrars in Victoria have sparked concern among psychiatrists and questions about whether there are adequate support structures in place for those in training.  

The Victorian Psychiatry Training Committee sent an email to registrars in January informing them of the deaths, which all happened  over a two-week period. The registrars were based at St Vincent’s, Austin and Frankston hospitals.

An intern working at Geelong Hospital also died unexpectedly during that time.
