Vitamin D advice needs clarification

The survey was sent to all GPs in NZ and 1089 completed it. These doctors were mostly trained in NZ and had been in practice for a mean of 19.6 years.

Most GPs said they advised patients to use sun protection measures at times of peak UV radiation in summer. Older GPs and those trained outside Australia and NZ were less likely to give this advice.

The GPs were asked how much sun exposure was needed to get adequate production of vitamin D. Their answers ranged from one to 300 minutes. GPs who
